About
Built by an instructor, for instructors
ClassTally exists because tracking pay across studios in a spreadsheet is a part-time job nobody signed up for.
Why ClassTally exists
If you teach group fitness, yoga, Pilates, or train clients, you probably don't work at one place. You work at three, or five, or wherever the schedule takes you. Each studio pays differently — flat per class here, per head there, revenue share down the road — and on its own schedule. Keeping track of what you're actually owed, and whether it ever showed up, turns into a spreadsheet that grows more fragile every quarter.
ClassTally started as exactly that spreadsheet. After one too many months of wondering whether a studio had short-paid a class — and one panicked April of guessing at quarterly taxes — it became obvious the tracking should just be a tool that does the math for you.
What it does
ClassTally tracks three things most instructors juggle by hand:
- What you should have earned— set each studio's rate and schedule once, confirm the classes you taught, and see your real earnings without a calculator.
- Whether you actually got paid — reconcile expected pay against the deposits that landed, so missed and short payments stop slipping by.
- What you'll owe in taxes — estimate quarterly self-employment, federal, and state taxes from your tracked income and expenses, before the bill is due.
Who it's for
ClassTally is for the multi-studio instructor — the person teaching across several gyms and studios, usually paid as a 1099 contractor, who wants to get paid right and walk into tax season without dread. If that's you, it was built with you in mind.
Where it's going
ClassTally is independent and actively developed. The goal is simple: be the most honest, useful pay-and-tax tracker a working instructor can carry in their pocket.
