It helps to include the email address on your account, what you expected to happen, what happened instead, and the phone or browser you were using. A screenshot is worth a lot.
Getting started
- Add each studio you teach at, with the way it actually pays you — flat per class, per student, hourly, revenue share, flat plus per-student, or a monthly retainer.
- Set your weekly schedule. Once a class's day has passed it counts automatically, so there is nothing to tick off after a normal week.
- Tell ClassTally only when something changes — a class was cancelled, nobody came, or the headcount was different.
- Record each payment as it lands, and check your tax estimate before each quarter is due.
Common questions
The pay for a class looks wrong
Check the studio's rate first — open the studio and make sure the pay type and amount match what they actually pay you. If the rate is right, open the class itself and check the headcount and start time.
I got a raise. What happens to my past classes?
Changing a studio's rate also changes what past classes are worth, because each class is priced from the studio's current rate. If you need older classes to stay at the old rate, set the amount on those classes directly before you change the studio's rate — a class with its own amount keeps it.
A class says it needs a headcount
Classes paid per student can't be priced until you enter how many people came. Those classes still count as taught, but their amount stays blank and they're left out of your totals until you fill it in. ClassTally never guesses a headcount for you.
A class was cancelled, or nobody showed up
Open the class and mark it Cancelled or No-show. It drops out of your pay, your totals, and your calendar feed straight away. You can undo it right after, and it works offline.
How do I add classes from before I started using ClassTally?
Use Add past classes. Pick the studio, tap the days you taught, then type the checks you got. Those classes land in your totals and your tax estimate.
My changes aren't showing up on my other device
ClassTally saves everything on your device first and syncs when it can, so anything you enter offline is kept and sent later. Pull down to refresh once you're back on a connection. If something still looks missing after that, email us before re-entering it.
I can't sign in, or my sign-in link expired
Sign-in links are single-use and expire, so request a fresh one rather than reusing an old email. If you first signed up with Google or Apple, use that same button — signing in a different way with the same address can leave you looking at an empty account.
My calendar subscription isn't updating
Calendar apps refresh subscriptions on their own schedule, which can take several hours — that delay is on their side, not ClassTally's. If the feed looks wrong rather than stale, turn it off and on in Settings to get a new link, then re-subscribe with it.
How do I put ClassTally on my phone?
Open classtally.app in your phone's browser and add it to your home screen — Share then Add to Home Screen on iPhone, or the install prompt in Chrome on Android. It then opens like any other app and keeps working without a signal.
Your account and your data
How do I get my data out?
Export a tax year as a CSV from the Tax page — it opens in any spreadsheet, and it's the file to hand an accountant. If you want everything at once rather than a single year, email us and we'll put it together.
How do I delete one class, payment, or expense?
Open the item and delete it there. Deleting a single record doesn't affect anything else, and your totals update straight away.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings, choose Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. That permanently removes your account and everything in it — studios, classes, payments, expenses and uploaded receipts — and cancels any active subscription. It can't be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.
What do you do with my data?
We don't sell it, and we don't share it for advertising. The privacy policy lists exactly what's collected, who processes it, and the rights you have over it.
Beta and billing
What does ClassTally cost right now?
Nothing. Every feature is open during the beta and there's no credit card to enter.
What happens when the beta ends?
We'll announce pricing before anything is ever charged, and you'll be told in advance rather than finding out on a statement. Your data stays yours either way, and you can export it at any time.
